Phnom Penh: PRASAC management and staff donated blood to National Blood Transfusion Center on 19 December 2015 to save patients who emergency need the blood. This donation was held at PRASAC head office with present from the representative of National Blood Transfusion Center, nurses, PRASAC Management and staff.

11th school library building inaugurated on December 04, 2015 at Ang Prasat primary school, Pich Sangva village, Sangkat Chbar Morn, Krong Chbar Morn, Kampong Speu province. The inauguration was presided by management of Department of Curriculum Development of Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and Provincial Department of Education, Youth and Sport, PRASAC’s management, Governor of Krong Chbar Morn, and Provincial Branch Manager of the National Bank of Cambodia, Kampong Speu. And, it was participated from students, teachers, provincial government officers, local authorities, and student’s parents, about 700 person.

Phnom Penh, November 20, 2015: To support growth and providing extra interest rate to clients, PRASAC is now offering a new service, called “Savings Plan Account”, which starts from November 23, 2015. Clients will easy to manage their saving plan by just deposit every month for the period of 12 or 24 months with minimum monthly balance from 40,000 Khmer Riel or 10 US Dollar or 400 Thai Baht; then they will enjoy with the bonus rate up to 3.5% for first year and 4.5% for the second year.

Bank of China (BoC) Phnom Penh Branch, a foreign branch of Bank of China, has provided a loan up to USD10 million, which includes USD 2 million 3 years term loan and USD 8 million overdraft facility respectively to PRASAC Microfinance Institution Limited., a Cambodian microfinance with has total asset of more than USD 1 billion, to increase its lending to micro, small and medium enterprises in the rural and agricultural sectors.

Workshop on “Strengthening of CMA Provincial Network “ Kampot Province, August 25, 2015


Cambodia Microfinance Association has organized a workshop on strengthening “CMA Provincial Network*” in Kampot on 25th August 2015. 38 participants representing Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) branches have attend the workshop which sought to (a) building effective network and cooperation between MFIs branches in the provinces and with CMA, (b) identifying key challenges in the operational areas, and (c) prevention of over-indebtedness and promoting sustainable development of microfinance sector.

The workshop also provided a forum for shared experience and exchange of information, discussion on client protection principles and improving coordination between CMA’s Operation Club* and Provincial Network. Mr. Tan Youhay, from Amret MFI, who chairs CMA’s Operation Club has encouraged a pro-active engagement and strong participation from all representatives of MFIs provincial branches to address key and urgent issues at the provincial level before submitting issues of national implication to CMA’s Operation Club for continued discussions.

The Workshop on Strengthening CMA’s Provincial Networks was supported by ADA.

*CMA Provincial Network is the network of MFIs Branches in the province and is considered provincial branches of Cambodia Microfinance Association. CMA Provincial Network’s members are branch managers of the MFIs with chairman and vice-chair elected for every two-year.

*CMA’s Operation Club is the advisory committee of CMA. Heads of credit or operation of CMA’s members join the club and meet quarterly to discuss issues related to operation of MFIs and microfinance sector in general.

ANNUAL MICROFINANCE CONFERENCE 2015: HEALTHY GROWTH FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Phnom Penh, 14 December 2015 – Cambodia Microfinance Association will organize the Annual Microfinance Conference 2015 under the main theme “Healthy Growth for Sustainable Development” on 23 December 2015 in Preah Sihanouk Province. The event will be one of the largest Microfinance sector gatherings of the year which brings together 200 eminence leaders and representatives from MFIs, Financial Institutions, Regulators and Government, and from investors and other key stakeholders.
The Annual Microfinance Conference will be held with three main objectives:
  • To provide forum for discussion on the critical elements affecting the growth and development of Cambodia’s microfinance sector and the economy
  • To encourage strong professionalism in microfinance sector and revitalize Institutions’ social goals
  • To debate and instill highly responsible and healthy growth strategy across the Microfinance sector
H.E Ouk Maly, Deputy Governor of National Bank of Cambodia, and H.E Mey Vann, Director General of General Department of Financial Industry of Ministry of Economy and Finance, will be joint by Dr. Oknha Bun Mony, Chairman of CMA, and other distinguish panelist and speakers to discuss the trending issues and main development of Cambodia’s Microfinance sector. Institutions,  Mobile  Payment  Project  as  well  as  NGO/INGO.  He  has  held  a  number  of  risk, compliance,   finance   and   administration   roles   including   Head   of   Risk   and   Compliance,
Operational Risk Manager, Internal Control & Compliance Manager, Risk Management Advisor,
Country Auditor, Senior Operations Auditor, Financial Auditor, Accountant and Administrator.
Mr.  Phyry  is  currently  Head  of  Risk  and  Compliance  of  Phillip  Bank,  overseeing  the  Bank
Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework on behalf of the Board.
Academically, he holds a Bachelor degree in Accounting and Finance and an MBA from Charles
Sturt University.
Mr. Phyry had been awarded with numerous scholarships such as Strategic Leadership for Microfinance at Harvard Business School Executive Program, Risk Management Excellent in Microfinance at the Chamber of Commerce of Luxembourg as well as BBA & MBA Programs.

  • One weeks’ notice before event there will be a 25% cancellation fee charge
